At Turkestan we believe that each rug has its own character and personality, as unique works as they are. That is why in this new collection that we present under the name ACCENTS, we emphasize those “accents” or characteristics present in each of the designs that make up this selection of pieces.
Within its variety there are a series of common guidelines, which at the same time differentiate one from each other, such as the use of dyed wool in a completely natural way, using 100% vegetable and mineral dyes and manual knotting in its creation process.
Thus, within Accents we will find pieces that are traditionally representative of the nomadic Qashqai culture, based on smooth chromatic compositions, playing with colors and creating with them designs full of gradients and simple geometric shapes.
Another of the styles on which we have paid our attention are the kilims and rugs woven with undyed raw material, that is, wool as a pure, neutral and totally sustainable material. Pieces in which the design stands out for its simplicity and minimalism, giving way to the textures and the softness of wool.
And a third group of pieces that make up a whole new universe of much more current motifs and designs, among which we can find: reinterpretations of the classic floral motifs of Persian rugs; another group of pieces that are based on basic geometric shapes such as triangles and squares, taken to their maximum expressio, and a third design of rugs that are based on the simplest lines and layouts, composing pieces of great simplicity with them, but full of expressiveness.
All this variety of compositions are what lead us to create Accents, a sample of the diversity of design in the current world of oriental rugs.
